  • Since Land Before Time 1, with the death of Littlefoot’s mother, no GOOD character has died. Do you think it should be KEPT that way or should someone (perhaps a relative of a guest character) be killed off, in future films?

Also, considering that they HAVE killed off a relative (Littlefoot’s mother, and also Grandpa Longneck came CLOSE to dying in LBT IV and Bron in LBT XIV) before, should the character that dies be like Topsy, Tria, Grandpa Longneck, Grandma Longneck, Bron, Mama Flyer, Pterano, Ali’s mother, Ruby’s parents, Chomper’s parents, Ducky’s mother, Ducky’s father, or something like that?

Given the trend, it may well be someone in Littlefoot’s family as:

He DID lose his mother in LBT I.
He came CLOSE to losing his grandfather in IV.
He came CLOSE to losing his father in XIV (or so I’ve heard).
Perhaps his grandmother will die in a future film. (She already had a near miss in XIII.)

Also, Topsy had a near miss in III. He can be quite bull-headed and one day it may go too far.

Mama Flyer, Ducky’s parents, Ruby’s parents, Tria should be fine. Chomper’s parents are in possible danger from Red Claw. Pterano, given his habits, is at risk of dying.

I think killing off a good character brings a sense of realism to a show. However, I don’t think it’s a good idea to kill off a character that the audience is emotionally attached to, or a character that actually has a purpose. Killing off Cera’s father wouldn’t be wise because he’s a great source of antagonism in the series. However Chomper’s parents would be fine as we’ve formed no emotional connection to them and they currently serve no purpose in the shows.

But then again, why kill off Chomper’s parents? What would be the point except to show realism? And you have to remember that it is a kid’s show. You have to be careful how you handle stuff like this, especially nowadays. People sue at the drop of a hat and there are more crazy parents today than ever before.

Are you kidding Austin?! My elementary school’s mascot used to be a little purple ball with eyes a mouth and a knight helmet with a spear called Sir Lancelot. Well some mom decided that that was “inappropriate” because he had a spear. Now my elementary school’s favorite mascot is freakin PURPLE RADISH. you heard me, a purple radish. I’m actually planning a protest against what actually is appropriate/politically correct with my former schoolmates when we were together there. We’re going to tie shirts that they used to sell with our old/proper mascot on them to long pvc pipes or sticks and wave them around like protest signs.
